Pursuant to the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) and, dependent on the number of workers, Employers are legally required to ensure that either a Health and Safety REP or Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC) is established in all workplaces.
Further, it is the Employer's responsibility to ensure that workplace inspections and safety meetings are conducted on a regular basis, as required by law. In addition, Employers must also provide all required certification training for Health and Safety Reps.
Canadian Security Training's Health and Safety division is an MLITSD-approved JHSC Training Provider and is licenced to provide Health and Safety Rep Certification training. Courses are conveniently scheduled to assist Employers with operational scheduling and budgeting and can be completed on a part-time basis including weekends.
This three-day introductory training course provides new Health and Safety representatives with the fundamentals of workplace Health and Safety, as required under the OHSA. Through classroom instruction and scenario-based training and testing this course will cover:

This course is recommended for all workplace Health and Safety Reps. Upon successful completion of the Health and Safety Rep certification program, students receive a wall certificate and wallet card. In addition, all students receive complimentary academic tracking and re-currency reminder service.
Qualified participants must be a designated workplace Health and Safety Rep.
There is no training equipment required for this course. Participant training manuals and all required reading materials are included in the cost of the course. Mandatory student dress code is business casual.
All certificates issued are valid for three years and must be renewed. Included as part of the Health and Safety REP program is complimentary academic tracking and a re-currency training reminder service.
