Pursuant to the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) and, dependent on the number of Workers, Employers are legally required to ensure that either a Health and Safety REP or Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC) is established in all workplaces.
Further, it is the Employer's responsibility to ensure that workplace inspections and safety meetings are conducted on a regular basis as required by law. In addition, Employers must also provide all required certification training for JHSC members.
Canadian Security Training's Health and Safety division is an MLITSD-approved Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC) Training Provider and is licenced to provide JHSC Part 1 certification training. Courses are conveniently scheduled to assist Employers with operational scheduling and budgeting and can be completed on a part-time basis including weekends.
This three-day introductory training course provides new JHSC members with the fundamentals of workplace Health and Safety as required under the OHSA. Through classroom instruction and scenario-based training and testing this course will cover:

This is a mandatory course for all certified members of a Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC). Upon successful completion of the JHSC certification program, participants will receive a wall certificate and wallet card. In addition, all participants will receive complimentary academic tracking and re-currency reminder service.
Qualified participants must be a member of a workplace Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC).
There is no training equipment required for this course. Participant training manuals and all required reading materials are included in the cost of the course. Mandatory participant dress code is business casual.
All certificates issued are valid for three years and must be renewed. Included as part of the JHSC-Part 1 Health and Safety program is complimentary academic tracking and a re-currency training reminder service.
