HAZARD AWARENESS TRAINING

Supervisor 5 -STEP

Construction Worker

A mandatory requirement under the Occupational Health and Safety Act (O.Reg 297/13), all Managers and Supervisors in all sectors, including security, must undergo 5-STEP Hazard Awareness Training as soon as practicable after being hired.  This includes full-time, part-time, contract and seasonal staff.

Employers have a legal duty to ensure all Managers and Supervisors have successfully completed Hazard Awareness training prior to starting work and/or supervising employees.  This includes providing Proof of Training for clients and the Ministry of Labour (MOL).

As a vital part of an effective workplace Health and Safety program, Hazard Awareness training ensures all Managers and Supervisors know the risks and dangers associated with the job-tasks they are assigned to carry out and oversee.  As well as, know their legal duties and responsibilities under the OHSA.  An essential component of the Internal Responsibility System, Hazard Awareness training highlights the roles and responsibilities of all employees in building and maintaining a safe and healthy workplace.
